College of William & Mary - President’s House

Location: Williamsburg, VA
Construction Schedule: August 2005 - December 2006
Construction Value: $1,462,432

Description:

The project consists of renovation of the Presidents House at the College of William and Mary. The major challenge of the project was to replace old, out dated systems – HVAC, plumbing, bathroom, kitchen, etc. – without significantly altering the Historic Fabric of the 19th Century historic structure. The goal of the project was to replace the systems, leaving the spaces appearing as they did prior to the renovation. This goal was accomplished!

In addition, the project included renovation of the basement, creating new spaces for HVAC equipment, storage, offices, restrooms and new brick flooring.

Exterior work included repair/replacement of the brick gutter around the perimeter of the building and underground hot/cold water serving the HVAC system.

The project was made more challenging due to the very old/and historic nature of the building and tight site conditions around a busy, operational college campus.
