Description:

The Prince George County Animal Shelter involved construction of a new Animal Shelter on County land.  This project involved all construction, site work, landscaping, utilities, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and equipment. The Prince George Animal Shelter is a single level facility of 7,476 sf. incorporating the latest technology for an Animal Shelter. The construction has been designed to be as maintenance-free as feasible and also provide hard, washable surfaces for ease in cleaning. The construction consists of concrete slab-on-grade, metal stud bearing walls, CMU bearing walls and wood roof structure.

The design of the facility has been held to a high standard to ensure air quality, durability and longevity of construction.

In addition to the building, the project includes the Site Work necessary to support the facility, including parking and a sanitary sewer force main that required "boring" under Highway 460.
