St. Mary’s Catholic Church

Location: Richmond, VA
Construction Schedule: August 2005 - July 2008
Construction Value: $9,917,585

Description:

The project consists of a 32,700 sf addition to the Church with renovation to adjacent spaces to promote flow and create new restroom facilities. The addition consists of 16,500 sf of new educational facilities and a new Sanctuary, with mezzanine balcony space consisting of 16,200 sf, including chancel area and support spaces.  The project also includes renovation of the existing Sanctuary to a “Commons” area, completion of the educational facilities for use by the Church School, and additional renovation/addition to create a “Daily Mass Chapel.” A distinguishing feature of the Daily Mass Chapel is the Meditation Garden, complete with Columbarium.

The finishes are high-end and in keeping for a Roman Catholic Sanctuary, including stone flooring, vaulted ceiling, extensive woodwork and elements enhancing the religious experience.

The project also includes extensive site improvements for parking, utilities, storm water retention and grading. The site work was made more difficult due to the need to provide parking for the on-going operation of the Church and School.
